The University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) Teaching and Learning Resource Center (TLRC) officially marked nearly three decades of dedication to the University, community, and the nation. In this year’s theme, ReDefine @29, the center recommits to its core purpose, ensuring that the goal of promoting academic excellence is realized in a more caring and nurturing environment by turning challenges into opportunities.
The milestone festivities spanned from April 27 to April 30, 2026, serving as a vibrant celebration of the center’s foundational history and its continued evolution as a hub of learning and service.
The grand anniversary celebration officially kicked off early on April 20, 2026, with the launch of TeLeMEMOIRS: TLRC @29 in UPV @79. Attended by enthusiastic students and dedicated administrative staff, this launch provided an intimate, historical look at the stories, milestones, and individuals that have shaped the center into a cornerstone of learning support, celebrated beautifully in conjunction with the 79th year of the university. This nostalgic retrospective set a meaningful tone for the interactive, community-focused events that followed a week later.
The celebration transitioned into high energy on April 29, 2026, with the staging of Students’ Day. Placing the student body at the absolute center of a nurturing and caring campus environment, TLRC in collaboration with UPV Mathematics Circle and UPV Statistical Society, hosted lively interactive activities that brought the campus to life. Among the highlights were TeLemPICS, which featured classic games that allowed students to unwind and enjoy friendly competition with their peers, and the crowd favorite TeLeBINGO, where participants eagerly competed for cash prizes.
The four-day celebration concluded on April 30, 2026, with a focus on institutional gratitude and professional empowerment. The final day began by honoring the vital network of collaborators with a heartfelt Tribute to Partners, recognizing the Office of the University Registrar (OUR) and the Library for their collaboration during the LMS and Online Resources Orientation program, the dedicated Peer Tutors of the Peer Tutorial Program, and the Faculty Tutors of the annual Bridge Program.
In the afternoon, learning opportunities opened up for UPV non-teaching staff through a Graphics Design Workshop hosted in partnership with the All UP Workers Union Iloilo Chapter. Held from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the MILC AVR, CUB Basement in UPV Miagao, the session featured Mr. Czar Ian Angel B. Esquivel as the Resource Person. The refresher workshop focused on equipping administrative staff with the practical skills needed to execute high-quality graphic design materials for their respective offices and units.
While the 29th anniversary celebration allowed the TLRC to look back on its rich accomplishments, it remains a dedicated avenue for continued growth. Moving forward, the center will continue to evolve, support, and redefine what it means to foster academic excellence with empathy. Padayon, UPV!
